O reggae, como muitos sabem, vem sofrendo muitas perdas importantes, navegando por esse cenário. No mês de dezembro, bate a saudade de um dos maiores astros que tenho em mente quando o assunto é reggae. Falo do cantor jamaicano Leonard Dillon, fundador do grupo Ethiopians. Dillon, se vivo estivesse, completaria 81 anos no dia 9.
Nos anos 60, junto com dois parceiros, fundou um dos mais importantes grupos da música jamaicana, o Ethiopians, atravessando assim três das fases mais fortes da música local: ska, rocksteady e reggae. O grupo tinha na formação Stephen Taylor, Aston Morris e Leonard Dillon. Stephen Taylor faleceu no meio dos anos 70; com isso, o grupo se dividiu, e Dillon gravou alguns trabalhos solo.
O Ethiopians encerrou suas atividades, e seu vocalista principal se foi, mas podemos, no movimento reggae, destacar algumas canções que sempre serão eternas, como "Solid as the Rock," "Band You Belly," "The Whip," entre outras.

I'm talking about Jamaican singer Leonard Dillon, founder of the group Ethiopians. Dillon, if he were alive, would have turned 81 years old on the 9th.
