In the previous column, we finished talking about the Skatalites band, a ska band that played with the greatest talents emerging in the Jamaican scene, such as Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Lee Perry, Jimmy Cliff, Toots, and many others. Other bands like those of Carlos Malcolm, Byron Lee, and Baba Brooks also recorded ska. However, when Don Drummond killed his wife, the singer Marguerita, and was arrested, the Skatalites began to unravel and had their last performance in 1965.
