Há alguns anos, precisamente nos anos 90, o carnaval vianense era embalado nos clubes Grêmio, Jaguarema, Alvorada e Cinelândia. No intervalo de funcionamento dos clubes, era a vez dos foliões migrarem para a praça do São Benedito, onde sempre havia um som à disposição dos mesmos.
Com o passar dos anos, o que era apenas carnaval no clube Cinelândia deixou de existir, devido a uma sociedade entre o proprietário do clube, o Sr. Adalberto, e o dono de uma radiola chamada Rock Som Radiola, uma das maiores existentes na época na cidade, de propriedade de Nhoca.
Com essa união, o reggae se uniu ao carnaval, passando então a ser chamado de carnaval jamaicano. Hoje, os clubes tradicionais não estão mais em atividade na cidade de Viana. No entanto, para a alegria dos regueiros, no último final de semana foi anunciada em um evento regueiro a volta do carnaval jamaicano durante os 7 dias de folia.
O carnaval dos amantes do reggae ocorrerá no Agarradinho, Brasil, Jamaica, no Cais da Alegria. Inclusive, tive a honra de tocar na 1ª prévia do carnaval no último sábado, dia 03. Na foto abaixo, o clube Cinelândia, onde aconteceu o primeiro carnaval jamaicano na história de Viana, e o clube Agarradinho Brasil Jamaica, que reabrirá suas portas para o reggae no Carnaval Jamaicano em 2024.

However, to the delight of the regueiros, last weekend the return of the Jamaican carnival during the 7 days of revelry was announced at a regueiro event.
The reggae lovers carnival will take place in Agarradinho, Brazil, Jamaica, at Cais da Alegria. In fact, I had the honor of playing at the 1st preview of the carnival last Saturday, the 3rd.
