No mês de março, quando o assunto é reggae, temos que lembrar da partida de um dos grandes mestres do reggae mundial, Jacob “Killer” Miller. O cantor foi vocalista da banda Inner Circle, com quem gravou vários sucessos conhecidos. Entre alguns deles, podemos citar “Tenement Yard”.
Na última sexta-feira, dia 29 de março, Miller foi homenageado póstumamente pelo International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) pelo conjunto de sua obra. Além de Jacob “Killer” Miller, foram homenageados também os cantores Freddy McGregor, Rita Marley e Glen Washington.
Jacob Miller foi um dos artistas que também teve morte prematura. Faleceu em 23 de março de 1980, aos 27 anos, em um acidente de carro. Lembrando que o cantor, poucos dias antes de sua partida, esteve ao lado de Bob Marley e Junior Marvin aqui no Brasil.
O International Reggae and World Music Awards foi realizado no Lauderhill Performing Arts Center, no sul da Flórida. Este é um evento anual que teve a sua 41ª edição.

In the month of March, when the subject is reggae, we have to remember the departure of one of the great masters of world reggae, Jacob “Killer” Miller. The singer was the vocalist of the band Inner Circle, with whom he recorded several well-known hits. Among some of them, we can mention “Tenement Yard”.
Last Friday, March 29, Miller was posthumously honored by the International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) for his body of work. In addition to Jacob “Killer” Miller, singers Freddy McGregor, Rita Marley, and Glen Washington were also honored.
Jacob Miller was one of the artists who also had a premature death. He died on March 23, 1980, at the age of 27, in a car accident. Remembering that the singer, a few days before his departure, was alongside Bob Marley and Junior Marvin here in Brazil.
